Salary range Junior technician: RM1,900–2,800. Fibre splicing technician: RM2,800–4,500. Tower technician (climber): RM3,500–6,500 plus site and rural allowances — the highest field pay, and the highest risk. Experienced field technician: RM3,500–5,500. Network operations technician (NOC): RM3,500–6,000 with shifts, office work, and low physical risk. Team lead / site supervisor: RM5,000–8,000. Field / integration engineer: RM5,000–9,000. Project supervisor: RM6,500–11,000.
What to notice in that list Tower work pays more than NOC at entry level, and NOC passes it later. Tower work pays a premium for risk, and that premium does not grow. Network operations, integration and planning do grow, because they depend on knowledge rather than physical willingness. This is why the advice "add IP network knowledge" appears twice on this page — it is the difference between a ten-year career and a thirty-year one.
Job stability — what to ask Most of the work is done by contractors working for network operators. Ask before accepting an offer: is this direct employment or contractor? How long is the project contract? What happens after it finishes? Direct employment with an operator or equipment vendor is more stable and often has better training.

What changes is the route after it. The UEC is not accepted for direct entry into a Malaysian public university degree. That is why independent school students overwhelmingly go to private universities in Malaysia, or abroad. The UEC is treated as equivalent to STPM and A-Level, and it is recognised in the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia and Taiwan — which is why the overseas rate from independent schools is so high. And the part that costs families real money — read this one properly: PTPTN eligibility runs through SPM, and a UEC alone does not carry it. To keep the loan available you need a complete SPM, which means two things people get wrong: Sejarah must be passed.Since SPM 2013 a pass in Sejarah (minimum E) is compulsory for the certificate itself — fail it and you do not have a complete SPM at all.
