Wildlife habitats around the world are increasingly under threat due to rapid urbanisation, deforestation and industrial development. Large areas of forests and wetlands are being cleared to make way for housing projects and agricultural land, destroying the natural homes of countless species.

The destruction of wildlife habitats has a devastating effect on animals. Many species lose their food sources and breeding grounds, forcing them to migrate to unfamiliar areas where survival is difficult. This has led to a sharp decline in the population of endangered species such as the Malayan tiger and orangutan.

To create awareness about wildlife protection, schools and communities should organise educational campaigns and nature excursions. Social media platforms can also be used to share documentaries and articles about endangered species. By educating the younger generation about the importance of preserving natural habitats, we can inspire collective action to protect our precious wildlife.

THE MAGIC OF MALAYSIA'S FOOD FESTIVALS

Malaysia is famous for its diverse cuisine, and food festivals are the perfect celebration of our culinary heritage. One food festival I know well is the Penang International Food Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors every year.

What attracts visitors most is the incredible variety of food available, from char kuey teow and laksa to satay and cendol. The festival also features live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, eating competitions and cultural performances.

However, there are areas that could be improved. The festival often suffers from overcrowding and long queues. Organisers should consider expanding the venue and implementing a digital ordering system to improve the experience.

Food festivals play a vital role in creating unity among Malaysians. When people from different ethnic backgrounds come together to share each other's traditional dishes, it fosters mutual understanding and appreciation. Food is the universal language that brings Malaysians together regardless of race or religion.

In conclusion, food festivals are not just about eating — they are a celebration of Malaysia's rich multicultural identity.

Luke opened the locker slowly, hoping his bag was there. What he saw was a small, glowing crystal sitting on top of a folded note. His jaw dropped in disbelief as the crystal pulsed with a soft blue light.

Luke picked up the note, which read: "Your bag has been taken to the old science lab. Complete the three challenges to retrieve it." His heart raced — his bag contained his science project due the next morning.

The first challenge led him to the library, where he had to solve a complex riddle about chemical elements. After twenty minutes of frantic searching through reference books, he cracked the code. The second challenge was in the school garden, where he had to identify five species of plants using only their leaves.

The final challenge was the hardest — he had to present a one-minute speech about the importance of science to a group of teachers waiting in the lab. With trembling hands but a steady voice, Luke delivered his speech passionately.

When he finished, the teachers applauded and returned his bag. Inside was a certificate — he had unknowingly completed the school's Science Week challenge and won first place.
