To turn baking into income, a student can start by offering homemade treats to friends, family and neighbours. Setting up a small online store on social media platforms such as Instagram or WhatsApp is an effective way to reach more customers. By creating an appealing menu, taking attractive photographs and providing prompt delivery, a student can gradually build a loyal customer base.

This activity is particularly important for students because it teaches them valuable life skills such as financial management, time management and entrepreneurship. It instils a sense of responsibility and self-reliance, preparing them for the challenges of adulthood. Moreover, earning their own money gives students a sense of accomplishment and boosts their confidence.

STAYING SAFE IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

In today's interconnected world, cyber security is no longer a concern reserved for technology experts — it is everyone's responsibility, especially teenagers who spend a significant amount of time online.

One tip I diligently follow to stay safe on the internet is using strong, unique passwords for every account and enabling two-factor authentication wherever possible. I choose this method because it provides an additional layer of protection, making it considerably more difficult for hackers to gain unauthorised access to my personal information.

I was inspired to adopt this practice after learning that a classmate's social media account was hacked due to a weak and reused password. The incident resulted in the spread of false information under her name, causing her immense embarrassment and distress.

The importance of being safe online cannot be overstated. Cyber threats such as phishing scams, identity theft and cyberbullying are increasingly prevalent among teenagers. A single careless click on a suspicious link can expose personal data, financial information and even one's location to malicious individuals.

Furthermore, maintaining good cyber hygiene protects not only ourselves but also our families and friends, as compromised accounts are often used to target people in our contact lists.

In conclusion, staying safe online requires vigilance, awareness and proactive measures. Let us all commit to practising responsible digital citizenship.
