The most unforgettable place I have ever visited is Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, the majestic peak that stands as the tallest mountain in Southeast Asia. Last December, my family and I embarked on a three-day trip that left an indelible mark on my heart.
The mountain was breathtaking — lush tropical rainforests blanketed the lower slopes, while granite peaks pierced the clouds above. We hiked along the Timpohon Trail, surrounded by exotic pitcher plants and the melodious calls of native birds. At Laban Rata, the mountain lodge perched at 3,272 metres, we rested before attempting the summit climb at two in the morning.
What made this place truly special was watching the sunrise from the summit. As golden rays illuminated the clouds beneath us, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and humility. Standing at 4,095 metres, surrounded by a panorama of extraordinary beauty, I realised how small we are in this magnificent world.
