Soalan Percubaan + High Achievement Model Answers
Question 1 — You must answer this question.
You received an email from Jones, who is your bosom friend.
Hi,
My grandpa's birthday is next week. I do think I should throw a party for him. What kind of a party can I have and where can I hold it? Do you think there should be a specific theme?
Do reply as soon as possible. So long then.
Your friend,
Jones
Hi Jones,
How wonderful that you want to celebrate your grandpa's birthday! I suggest throwing a garden party at your house since grandpa probably enjoys a relaxed and comfortable setting surrounded by family.
For the theme, how about a "Golden Years" vintage theme? You could use old photographs as decorations and play songs from his favourite era. A slideshow of family memories would be a lovely touch too.
You could serve his favourite traditional dishes and a custom birthday cake. Plan some gentle activities like a family karaoke session and a quiz about grandpa's life stories.
I'm sure he'll love it!
Take care,
[Your name]
Question 2 — You must answer this question.
Your class has been discussing how sports activities benefit teenagers and your teacher asked you to write an essay based on these questions.
Sports play an important role in the lives of teenagers today. Among the most popular activities are football, badminton and swimming. Teenagers enjoy these sports because they are exciting, social and easily accessible in most communities.
Participating in sports offers numerous health benefits. Regular physical activity helps teenagers maintain a healthy weight, strengthens bones and muscles, and improves cardiovascular fitness. Sports also boost mental health by reducing stress and anxiety while releasing endorphins that improve mood.
However, there are some disadvantages. Teenagers who participate in sports risk injuries such as sprains, fractures and muscle strains. Excessive commitment to training may also interfere with academic performance if time is not managed properly.
In conclusion, while sports come with certain risks, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Teenagers should be encouraged to participate in sports with proper guidance and safety measures.

PRINT BOOKS VS DIGITAL BOOKS: WHICH IS BETTER?
In today's technology-driven world, the debate between print books and digital books continues to spark interesting discussions among readers.
Print books offer a tactile reading experience with the feel of paper and the smell of ink. Digital books, on the other hand, exist as electronic files that can be read on devices such as tablets, e-readers and smartphones.
Digital books have several advantages over print books. They are portable and space-saving — you can carry thousands of titles on a single device. They are often cheaper, and readers can adjust font sizes and brightness for comfort. Digital books are also more environmentally friendly as they eliminate the need for paper.
However, there are shortcomings. Prolonged screen time can cause eye strain and headaches. Digital books require charged devices and internet access. Many readers also miss the physical experience of flipping through actual pages.
To popularise digital books, publishers should offer free trial chapters and attractive subscription plans. Schools can incorporate e-books into their curriculum, and libraries should expand their digital collections.
In conclusion, both formats have their merits, but digital books represent the future of reading in our increasingly connected world.

REVIEW OF AVANI SEPANG GOLDCOAST RESORT
Last school holiday, my family and I spent a wonderful weekend at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort, a stunning overwater villa resort in Selangor. The experience exceeded our expectations in every way.
What I loved most about the resort was its unique overwater villas connected by wooden walkways over the Strait of Malacca. Waking up to the sound of gentle waves beneath our room was truly magical. The infinity pool offered breathtaking sunset views.
The resort also provided excellent facilities, including a spa, kayaking, archery and a well-equipped fitness centre. The seafood restaurant served the most delicious butter prawns I have ever tasted.
However, the resort is slightly remote, and nearby dining options are limited. The room rates are also on the higher side, which may not suit budget-conscious travellers.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I would highly recommend Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort to my relatives and friends. It is the perfect destination for anyone seeking a peaceful and luxurious retreat without travelling far from the city.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Question 5
📖 StoryYour teacher has asked you to write an account about a regrettable incident. Title: A Lesson Learnt
A LESSON LEARNT
It was a scorching Saturday afternoon when I made a decision that I would regret for a very long time. My best friend, Danial, had invited me to his birthday celebration, but I chose to stay home and play video games instead.
"I'll make it up to him next time," I told myself, completely unaware of how wrong I was. That evening, I received a phone call from Danial's mother. Her voice was trembling as she told me that Danial had been involved in a serious road accident on his way home from the party. He was hospitalised with a broken leg and several stitches.
My heart sank. I rushed to the hospital and found Danial lying on the bed, bandaged and bruised. Despite his pain, he smiled when he saw me. "I wish you were there today," he said softly. Those words pierced my heart like a dagger.
I stayed by his side every day until he recovered. During those weeks, I realised how selfish I had been, prioritising a game over a friend who had always been there for me.
The lesson I learnt was profound — never take your loved ones for granted. Time is precious, and the people in our lives are far more important than any material pleasure.
