One environmental problem I have witnessed is river pollution near my neighbourhood. The river that once had clear water is now polluted with plastic waste, industrial runoff and household rubbish, making it hazardous for both wildlife and humans.

It is important to care for the environment because our survival depends on it. A healthy environment provides clean air, safe water and fertile soil for food production. Environmental degradation leads to climate change, which causes floods, droughts and rising sea levels that threaten communities worldwide.

To encourage young people to get involved in environmental protection, schools should organise hands-on activities such as tree-planting campaigns, beach clean-ups and recycling drives. Social media challenges related to environmental conservation can also engage teenagers effectively. Creating eco-clubs in schools gives students a platform to develop and execute green initiatives.

In conclusion, protecting the environment is not optional — it is a responsibility that every young person must embrace for the sake of future generations.

SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS: THE BOND BETWEEN HUMANS AND ANIMALS

The relationship between humans and animals is one of the most beautiful connections in the world. Pets bring joy, comfort and unconditional love into our lives.

The most common animals people keep as pets include cats, dogs, fish, hamsters and rabbits. In Malaysia, cats are particularly popular due to cultural preferences and their low maintenance requirements. Fish enthusiasts often keep colourful species like bettas and goldfish.

People keep pets for many reasons. Pets provide companionship and emotional support, especially for those living alone or dealing with stress. Studies show that petting animals reduces blood pressure and anxiety. For families, pets teach children valuable lessons about responsibility, empathy and caring for others.

To encourage people to be kind to animals, schools should incorporate animal welfare education into their curriculum. Communities can organise awareness campaigns about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of neutering and regular veterinary check-ups. Social media can be used to share heartwarming stories of rescued animals.

In conclusion, animals deserve our kindness and respect. By treating them well, we not only enrich their lives but also nurture our own capacity for compassion and humanity.

The sky was turning dark, Jamal walked to the police station and he could feel his heart pounding against his chest. His hands trembled as he pushed open the heavy door. This was the bravest thing he had ever done.

Earlier that afternoon, Jamal had witnessed a group of men breaking into his elderly neighbour's house. He recognised one of them as Rizal, a notorious troublemaker from the neighbouring village.
